You may have noticed that a conventional vacuum cleaner throws air out from a fan which is generally situated on the backside of the machine. For this fan to blow air, it needs to draw air in. This is done from the suction pipe, or the cleaning pipe. The forward moving flow of air due to the fan creates a low pressure zone inside the vacuum cleaner.
As this pressure drops below the atmospheric pressure, a partial vacuum is created that sucks the air in towards the fan. The air carries dirt and dust which are trapped in the filters and the garbage bag inside the cleaner. Our vacuum cleaner works with the same general principle, except the technique with which partial vacuum is created is slightly different.
The body of our vacuum cleaner is made up of the bottle. When the air from the balloon is released, it contracts. The air pressure inside the bottle is now much lower than the atmospheric pressure outside.
